We have been thankful for having our event the first two years filled with blue skies, cool temperatures and no wind. However, this year, we had it all. Neither rain, nor cold, nor sleet, nor snow or even sunshine, will keep us from completing a successful third annual XTERRA Marathon Of Trail Races. Each year our numbers have increased and this year we exceeded our expectation of 400 runners to join us for the 5K, Half Marathon and Marathon at Cheyenne Mountain State Park. However, we had no idea what we would all be up against on October 8, 2011. After receiving many phone calls from runners driving in from Denver making sure we wouldn't start the race without them, because they were driving through a blizzard to get to us, we knew we were in for an interesting day. And interesting it was, as you will see from the amazing photos and videos provided by Pikes Peak Sports. Thanks to Shawn Finley, a dear friend and truly committed runner that is responsible for the best marked course ever, XTERRA, our sponsors, including Whole Foods providing the most amazing packet pick-up experience and most needed post-race food, the Boulder Running Company for their endless support, an incredible race crew of volunteers that stood out in the cold, snow and rain for many hours with no complaints, my 9 year old daughter, Maddie, that worked side by side with my Sister Deb, Ranger Martin and his crew, and the passionate and dedicated runners and their families and friends that waited patiently to cheer everyone as they crossed the finish line!
